Juan Delcan

-->

Juan Delcan is a native of Spain where he studied architecture and fine art, and began his career as a graphic designer and illustrator.  He currently lives and works between Los Angeles and New York.  In Madrid, Juan joined Opera Soft where his video game designs enjoy cult status to this day. He also began his live-action career, directing for European networks in Spain and Germany.

Juan moved to the USA in the mid-90’s and worked with various production companies.  Although Juan is primarily a live-action director, his paintings and illustrations came to the attention of U2’s Bono, who commissioned him to animate backdrops for U2’s Vertigo Tour.  The backdrops can be seen in U2 3D, the band’s 2008 3D theatrical release.  Juan also completed stage visuals for U2’s Grammy Awards appearance and London, Paris and Berlin award shows.  He also worked closely with the band directing and designing stage visuals for their Vertigo World tour.  This led to animation projects for the Council of Fashion Designers in America, De Beers, MAC Cosmetics, Sundance, Barnes & Noble, and SpikeTV, among others.  His documentary, AfriCOBRA is an engaging historical tribute to the Chicago artists collective who create images to uplift and affirm the African-American community.

Juan has directed numerous live-action and animated projects, often combining both worlds to create stunning visual effects.  His clients include American Express, Chase, Bank of America, Heineken, Lenovo, Verizon, HP, Carolina Herrera, Puma, NBC, AT&T, Herbal Essences, Olay, L’Oreal, Estee Lauder, Crest, Oral-B, JetBlue, Pfizer, Samsung, among others.

Juan’s work has been honored by The London International Advertising, British Design & Art Direction Award, Monitor Award, and Design Awards, AIGA, The BDA Awards, The Telly Awards, and The Museum of Modern Art.
